Man this is a cold and heartless society we are living in.. and money rules it all!

People trying to get rich.. it's the American dream.. make as much cash and the heck with the people you are leaching it out of..

Blah.. we just had our internet, phone shut off.. It costs more to have our interet turned off for good than it costs to have it turned back on.. And we were cutting it close with our gas.. we only need that to cook (at least we gotta microwave) and for hot water (cold showers burrr!)... luckily it's not winter.. or else they'd let us freeze to death I'm sure!

We are months behind on most of our bills.. we keep rent current because it's important to have a place to live.. I don't have a cell phone.. I don't drink or smoke.. I only buy what we need (no going to the movies or getting new clothes or toys) it's just ridiculous! Our rent just keeps going up..

My husband got a new job recently.. a nicer.. better paying job where he gets to come home and we can all eat dinner like a family at night job.. But his hours changed.. and in comes child care.. I really don't see how people afford this.. I mean it's very important who you have watching your kids! you can't just entrust them to anyone!.. but still.. 200... 250$ a month to just one 2 year old for just one week at a day care place! and not even 5 days! .. and I don't just have one 2 year old.. I have a 7 and a 9 year old too! .. blah such a headache.. Luckily my old neighbor babysits right now.. and she's helping me out a lot more than the daycare places.. but still.. my whole check goes mostly to her.. with some left over for gas to get the kids there.. and then a little left over for food.. Have you ever bought groceries for a family of five for a week on 35$ ? But don't worry.. no one is going hungry.. I make sure of that! it just really sucks! (bread eggs milk pasta cheeze peanutbutter beans cereal rice jelly.. canned everything).. I quit buying paper towels .. they are wasteful anyhow..

I spent 5 hours at the.. family resource place.. trying to make sure the kids at least have insurance.. and to try to see if we can get a little help with our food bill.. so many people complaining.. "I've sat here for hours! I don't have time for this!" .. man people are so ungrateful... for 5 hours out of one day.. they can get hundreds of dollars worth of help! and they just complain more about how they wish they were getting even more, or how their friends can defraud the system and get more money than them.. (one girl behind me was complaining how one of her friends children died.. and how she's still getting cash and food assistance for them).. then she goes up and complains about how long she's been waiting only to learn her name was called 3 hours ago when she went out for a smoke break.. .. OH MY GOD, what is wrong with people!!!.. Sure I didn't want to be there either.. and I wouldn't have been unless my family needed it..

anyways.. so we qualify but they need proof that the kids are in school before we can get any help usually meaning their last report card from school.. ... it's the middle of summer.. and me being the horrible earth conscience parent I am threw their last report cards in with the recycling... I e-mailed the administration offices of the school.. and they say that all records are kept at the school.. and it's not back in session for another month.. I just can't win here at all.. :(

Then last night.. my son starts tugging on his ear then howling and cringing in pain.. he's had a cold the last week so it's obvious it's settled into his ears.. :( .. I was up half the night with him.. luckily my husband had some left over ear drops that finally worked and calmed him down.. and he got some sleep... and of course I (after calling off work that I really can't afford to miss) called his doctor (the name on his care card) first thing.. And after explaining how he was up all night and again in the morning consistantly crying about his ear.. they say.. well how is next Monday for you? (today is a Wednesday) .. they would have him wait 5 more days.. cringing in pain.. and I know the receptionist could hear him in the background moaning.. and when I calmly stated that he really needs to be seen today.. and was about to ask if there was any possible way to get him in sooner.. she hangs up on me.. about this time my daughter comes in she's got a fever sore throat and a stomach ache.. She needs to stay in bed! So then after calling all around to other doctor offices (most that won't take our ins).. the only way to get my son seen now is to either take him to the ER.. or wait until the Urgent Care opens up at 3.. with my daughter sick .. I don't want to be dragging her all over town.. and waiting for hours.. so I'm now waiting for urgent care to open.. I figure I'll have better luck there.. and less wait time.. It's just so frustrating.. Doctors are supposed to help! not turn you away.. :/ .. and I'm not a dr.. but I know whats wrong with my son and what he needs to make it better!

Blah.. things really just suck..

On the good side though.. Me and my husband do both have jobs.. and nothing is turned off right now.. we have lots of chili to eat (we are having chili cheese burritos tonight for dinner and chili dogs the next :D) My son is now taking a nap.. my daughters fever is down thanks to some Ibuprofen.. My friend Dawns been letting me help out at her work :) We've been going to the park every Sunday after church.. and painting every Friday night.. I've finally (with the help from my husband) gotten all caught up with the laundry!.. My husband gets paid in 2 days and I think we should be able to get caught up on at least one more bill if not 2.. My mom is in town.. and my friend who moved away is coming in for a visit this month! woo hoo! .. My birthday is soon.. and my oldest sons is too! .. I'mma bake him a cake and invite some family over.. then we are taking him and a friend or two of his to go play and spend a day at a lake beach :).. I might make me a cake too :D

Neither of us knew exactly how to use it.. (whether to make two halves and try to piece them together or fill one side and let the cake rise up in the other..) So I had a go at it tonight the way I thought (bake it with the 2 sides together and let it rise to form) and whatdayaknow! It worked! .. I used a box of angel food cake mix.. (I've never tried to make it myself before.. weird stuff) Delicious and pretty!

I even busted out with some food coloring and gently painted on some sheepish details.

This is where I conduct my eeevil experiments! Muhahaha

Haha, not really well.. it's just my living room, and a bottle of matte varnish and a wadded up primed tape ball.. It just sounds more intriguing when it's all secretive and evilish.. hehe ..

So! I've tested out my deco podge & tissue paper on my faux model and it works great and looks good. I also tested out, pre striping some black tissue paper to deco podge on jacks suit and it turned out great too!! Woot! no sitting cross eyed trying to delicately paint pin stripes! Also Experimented with dyeing the white paper with markers, to make the right colors for Sally's dress! I think it's all gonna work out splendid! No road bumps thus far!

(Sorry for the mess.. But thus is a glimpse into my workshop.. er living room.. just as long as it's all cleaned up by the time my husband gets home right?)

Also a glimpse into my next project, that I hope to finish and ship off next week. As you can see I've got a bit done, but still quite a bit to go. I'm still up in the air on how I'm going to finish..

So far, I have made all the armatures, using, newspaper & a light wooden base (in the curly hill), wood, foil and tape in all.

I plan on using super sculpy to finish off the 2 figures of Jack and Sally, but I'm going to try to do it in great moderation. Jack is so thin that I think he's already thin enough in the arms and legs.. But his head and suit tails/details are a must. . Same with sally, I'm going to try to flesh her out mostly with the armature..

Then.. we'll see.. I've not used tape before in armatures, so I don't know how well it is to work with. I know I will have to spray it down with a primer regardless, and I have some heavy duty stuff already to work with.. Then I'm going to do a few tests pieces and see if it wouldn't be easier to do a modge podge with Tissue paper and varnish, instead of painting.. Not that I'm against painting it.. I just think it might add an interesting texture.. and also.. If I can pre-paint jacks pin-stripes before applying them then that would save me a ton of time and energy.

So lots of fun new things going on with this project, I love thinking outside of the box, and here's hoping it turns out great and my friends love it too!

It sounded like fun to me and a chance at something a little different, so I jumped at the chance!

I started off trying to plan out something a little different, looking for a real challenge even for myself, and came up with the idea of doing a 2 headed kewpie. So of course, I had to start with disembodying the little cuties before I could reasemble them into what would beccome Pip and Pauline, so with a very sharp exacto and a steady hand I set to work.

After that I diligently worked to piece them together using a tad of super sculpey, and then off they went on a voyage to the oven! (Don't worry they made it out okay! ) Then they got their personalities, with a hip new paint job , .. and some under clothes, cause I got tired of looking at them nakie hehe.. Next came the real fun!!

The whole task was to dress up your kewpie, so of course I couldn't just leave them in their undies!! It was kinda hard to design a dress to fit around 2 heads and 4 arms but somehow I managed it!

Along with all the little extras, such as a pretty bead bracelet, the mandatory pretty pink pigtails for Pip, and their very own custom made parasol!!

They took a bit longer to make than I thought they would, but I think they turned out great! It makes me want to make more cutesy little custom things! But maybe in a few months.. Right now I have knitting to do and Cans to paint :D Keep watch for more on these projects to come!

The End.

Plush and paint on canvas.. True you can't cuddle the stuffy wuff like you'd usually be able to, but it's still a pleasure to look at.

I've always thought of my plush things more as art than a play thing, and with this I can add even more to them than just buttons and embroidery, go beyond embellishments into uncharted territories!! lol I know it seems silly, but it's fun nevertheless, and I intend on having all sorts of fun playing around with my new found medium love!

So onto the actual art, this is a 6x12in canvas, with acrylic paint and some shiny gold acrylics too! The plush part is made of fleece, printed cottons, buttons (cause we all know I love buttons!) and embroidery. I need to take some better pictures I know, if anyone has any pointers feel free to share! I promise I don't bite!

Hopefully I should be able to create more art soon, There was a sale on canvas at my local store, so I got some larger pieces to work with! I have quite a few ideas lined up so hopefully they will come easily into fruition. :)

Well seems as if I've run out of time, must get back to the real world, no more pretty colors and pin pricks for me until maybe tonight :) And with this I must leave you all with a little music :)

<lj-embed id="4" />
